וַיֹּ֡אמֶר חָלִילָה֩ לִּ֨י מֵאֱלֹהַ֜י מֵעֲשׂ֣וֹת זֹ֗את הֲדַ֣ם הָאֲנָשִׁים֩ הָאֵ֨לֶּה אֶשְׁתֶּ֤ה בְנַפְשׁוֹתָם֙ כִּ֣י בְנַפְשׁוֹתָ֣ם הֱבִיא֔וּם וְלֹ֥א אָבָ֖ה לִשְׁתּוֹתָ֑ם אֵ֣לֶּה עָשׂ֔וּ שְׁלֹ֖שֶׁת הַגִּבּוֹרִֽים׃
Lalu ia berkata, “Jauhlah dariku di hadapan Allahku untuk melakukan hal ini! Haruskah aku meminum darah orang-orang ini, yang mempertaruhkan nyawa mereka? Sebab dengan mempertaruhkan nyawa mereka, mereka membawanya.” Maka ia tidak mau meminumnya. Itulah yang dilakukan oleh ketiga pahlawan itu.
II Samuel
he said, "Far be it from me, Adonoy, to do this. [Do I want] the blood of [these] who risked their lives?" therefore he did not drink [the water]. This is what these three warriors did.
